Default I'm feeling embarrased but....

Hi

I'm new to this forum and i have something quite embarrassing to admit :... my ds is 10mo and for the last 4mths has been having foods from a jar . I'd really like him to start having homecooked meals but have already tried a few things and he's totally refused them... does anyone have any ideas on how i can get him to eat the meals i cook for him?

Thank you

Welcome and dont feel embarrassed. The good thing is that you want to cook for him now! Have you tried mixing the jar and homecooked food together and gradually decreasing the jar one until its homecooked only?
Give it a try and good luck! xx

Haven't thought of that... i'll give it a go this week, searching for some recipes similar to the jars that he likes! Thanks for the speedy response, i'll keep you up to date with how it goes.

have you tried putting a little bit of LO usual milk in what you cook, know it might sound strange but when my LO won't eat something i add a bit of her milk and it usually works. In relation to mixing with the jar just cook one type of veg and just add that to the jar. My friend had a similar problem but relaised that her LO wouldn't eat anything other than the jar because she use to watch her make the meals and saw that what she was about to eat was not from the jar so wouldn't eat it. good luck and eventually you'll get there will just take time. Happy cooking...

don't feel embarrassed to use Ready Meals/Jars, i use them quite alot too. Some days there just ain't time or motivation to do anything else & days that hubby looks after him, thats all he gets. I also suggest mixing a jar with your own veg/potato/pasta/rice etc. That way your lo will get the best of both worlds. If you do find the time/energy to make up a home made casserole of something, make loads & freeze it into little pots, for future use. Good luck xx
