Wondering if you could guide as to whether my 11mth old is getting enough or about average for his age... worried he is not eating enough.
![]() today for eg went like this.. 6.30am 5onces formula 8ish 2-3 desert spoonful of baby cereal (not mad on ready brek etc) 10.30 pot of fruit puree 11.45 started to have small pieces of chicken maybe 1 or 2 pieces then start spitting it out. Tried him with some Carbonara about 7-8 spoonfuls. Dinner about 6-7 spoonfuls of beef and veg hotpot and small yougart. About 1/4 piece of toast 5 onces before bed. |

hi curlymop - if he seems healthy to you and his wieght is ok per red book/hv then wouldn't worry - he'll soon let you know if wants more. have you had him wieghed recently - might put your mind at rest.
we shouldn't compare really as all babies different but will outline what my 11mth had today 8.30am breakfast plum baby apricot and apple porridge with 3 whizzed up apricots, tiny bit of toast, yogurt and juice (he's not hot in drinking milk). think he might have had 4 strawberries too. mid morning - orangix rice cakes and corn rings while going round asda lunch spaghetti, steamed mixed veg chopped up and mixed with plum baby ready sauce (tom), fruit pot and some mixed veg in a bowl to feed himself. water. snacks - rice cake, shortbread biscuit, juice. tea - small baked cod loin, mash potatoe and steamed carrots all chopped up together and a little formula milk to reduce stodginess. banana and custard but only ate the custard. bedtime - 7oz milk portion size - he will eat a tommee tippee weaning bowl full of his main meal i.e. the fish and veg combo he had today and the pasta meal. he only has one bottle of milk a day and is very mobile and i think burns alot off quickly. |

Thanks for the reply angelbabies, you son looks like a great eater. Well he weights 19 pounds he is so active non stop shuffling on the floor (his version of crawling) generally very happy baby, full of life. I know every baby is different although he wakes in the night looking for a bottle. Bit of a chicken and egg situation.. I guess he will come around. I dont mean to go off the subject of this tread but what advise, tips would you give to encourage feeding himself, I think this might help maybe.

hi curymopp not sure what to suggest except give him a bowl of finger food alongside the meal you actually want him to eat i.e. steamed veg, cucumber sticks, peeled grapes, peices of apple. he can practice eating himself - and let him get as messy as he likes.
but a better idea is to start a separate new thread asking for advice as there are alot of posters on here who can help far more but necessarily don't look at this thread as their kids are older. hth |

My baby boy is 9 months old today he had:
8.15am Breakfast: 7 oz of formula and half a weetabix with 3 more oz of formula and a few spoons of pureed fruit. 12.00 Lunch: Salmon, brocolli, tomato and cottage cheese (all blended together) and a few spoons of pureed fruit. 13.45 Snack: Half a jar of creamed rice 16:00 Tea: Couscous with cheese sauce and a yoghurt 20:00 Bedtime: 9 oz bottle Does this sound like enough for him? He's a very big boy he was 9 pounds at birth and now weighs 22 pounds. I'm afraid this isn't enough but he really isn't a fan of formula and sometimes it's a struggle to get it into him. |
