Default sitting up

Hi mums, Toby is 6 months today and is just about sitting up on his own, but is still alittle wobbley, can anyone suggest a soft chair which he can use in the living room on the floor.
Also am I right in thinking that Toby can have FULL FAT COWS MILK NOW. ( I was told by a friend that you can not give them this untill 1 year as it can make there intestines bleed, are they wrong).
thanks jane

woohoo!! toby's a quick one. my son is 9 months and has just started sitting up by himself. anyway, you can give him full fat cows milk in food from 6mths but he cant drink it until he's one years old. so i give the full fat cows milk in cereal, if i need to make his food more creamy and stick to my usual sma formula milk for his milk feeds.

We give Ethan full fat milk in sauces but he hasn't drunk it yet, I am planning to start giving him it from a cup in a few weeks, just before he is one.

I know other people give their LO's full fat milk to drink before age one (although not to replace breast or formula feeds, but in addition to) and I'm pretty sure the intestines story is inaccurate for a healthy child, I'm sure there would have to be an underlying allergy or illness for this to be the case!

I think the main reason that it is advised cows milk is avoided as a drink until age one is that it doesn't contain enough iron for a growing baby if used alone as a feed.

Well done Toby for sitting up!

xxxxxxx

Hi Jane
Not sure if they're available in the UK as I am in the US. But I got my little one a Bumbo Bay chair. www.bumbobabyseat.com It's great, they can use them from about 3 months and it's super supportive, you can also buy the separate tray so it can be used as a high chair. I think Prince Lionheart do a similar one also. My little one is just coming up to 7 months and he loves his.

Well done Toby! Those bumbo chairs look great. I didn't actually use one with Joseph because I didn't see them until he was just about managing on his own anyway but I will definitely get one next time, Jodie x

I have a bumbo chair for Tristan they're great and easy to clean. We take ours with us if we're visiting family and friends and use it for feeding him. You can buy them in Mothercare, think we paid about £30 for ours.

at 6 months, you can use cows milk in foods/cooking - but not as a main drink. from 1 year, they can be given cows milk to drink.
I didn't think you were supposed to use a bumbo once baby could sit up unaided?? can't remember sorry. You can use a high chair now (some convert to toddler chair for use around the house too).

Hi cathyg. Can you use a high chair at six months or do they need to be sitting up unaided??
