nljohnston82 is infamous around these parts
Default when can you introduce more unusual asian foods?

I live in Indonesia so the diet and availability of certain foods is different from the UK, so I was wondering if anyone knows when it is okay to introduce any of the following foods:
tempe (fermented soy beans)
star fruit / pineapple
seaweed (the dried kind that is used for soups, not the dried seasoned kind for California rolls)
eggplant
goat
chickpeas
snake fruit (salak)
I can not think of other items now, but I am sure that there are more things that I have forgotten.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks in advance!!!
Nicky

I have no idea about the soy beans because they are often cooked in salty sauces and you want to avoid salt for the first few years, but I would have no problems introducing any of the others from an early age. I never avoided any fruit or veg with my son from the time I first weaned him (and he has had pretty much all of the ones you list), and similarly once I introduced meat to his diet he would have had all sorts incl. goat.
