Default Cheese

Hi Mummies and Daddies!
I bought Grana Pandano cheese today as it was on offer and thought I'd use it as a parmesan substitute but have just read the back and seen that it is unpasturised. Will it still be ok to use in cooking for my LO? Thanks x

Yes it is fine. The main worry with unpasteurised cheeses is Listeria, but it is destroyed by cooking.

The only unpasteurised cheese you really need to worry about are soft cheese like brie, blue cheese or other cheese with a similar texture, but again if they are well cooked in a dish they will be fine.

Aged or hard cheese like Grana Pandano are considered safe to eat uncooked even if made from unpasteurised milk.
