Default Weaning early

hi, i'm new to this forum and i'm looking for some advice, my daughter is 19 weeks and has recently started waking several times through the night for a feed, she used to sleep from 10pm till 8,30am, i have tried her with a little baby rice but this doesn't seem to be helping, i have been advised not to use the hungrier baby milk, i use aptimal for colicy and constipated babies at the moment but i'm trying the hungrier baby one for her last feed at night, still not helping. Anyone have any suggestions? i'm sooo tired.

I think it can be quite normal for babies at that age to start waking again if if they had been sleeping through before that. Is your daughter actually hungry for a feed or is she just finding it hard to get back to sleep and feeding more from a comfort point of view ? She could be going through a growth spurt in which case she needs the extra feeds. If it is a comfort then then is it possible to settle her back to sleep without feeding her ?

My little girl is 21 weeks and I started weaning her 1 week ago. She is my fifth child and I like to think that I can recognise the signs of a baby ready for solids! She was watching us eat, making chewing motions with her mouth, and then began waking during the night having previously slept from 6-6. I have given her baby rice and suede and carrot and it helped tremendously. She really enjoys it. Gets excited when she sees it coming. Opens her mouth ready, sucks it off the spoon and opens straight up again. Shes more contented and sleeping soundly. I realise the recommendation is to wait until 6 months, and two of my five babies didnt need weaning until then, but I believe in following the signs and your childs needs. They wouldnt produce baby food for 4 months if it would harm them. I love making her little purees. I say try it. You'll soon know if your baby is ready

Hi - I weaned my son at 15 weeks (!) as he was not taking his milk well at all. Started v slowly on baby rice for a week etc and then worked up with the veg / fruit purees. It worked for him, realise its against current guidleines but the HV agreed with me that he was 'bored' of the milk and probably wanted something more! Tricky things these baby folk! Good luck x
