Default my two year old will not eat anything except pasta

My two year old grandaughter whom I look after for five days of the week refuses to eat anything unless it contains pasta. Any suggestions. She will eat fruit etc..but for main course it always needs to be pasta with either butter cheese and ham with green beans or spag bol. She will not touch anything else no matter what we are eating. My daughter says she is the same at home. I feed her three times a day but breakfast usually she will only eat a yoghurt and a piece of fruit. She does not want cereal or toast etc. Am new here and would love to be able to give my daughter some ideas as she worries that too much pasta is not good but has tried everything. I am not an interfering nana by the way. My daughter asked me to go online and try and get some fresh input. Thankyou

Hmmm I guess.it was a stupid question to ask. My daughter just thought someone could maybe come up with an idea.

Not a stupid question, but I'mnot sure there are many people around at the moment. My LO isn't a fussy eater so I wouldn't have much experince with that sort of problem. All I can suggest is maybe offering some choice at every meal time, a little pasta as well as something else. If she eats bolognese then maybe try the sauce without the pasta and something else on the side ?

tbh pasta is no better or worse than any of the other carbs you'd usually have with meals, potatoes, rice etc. You can do a great variety of sauces, so if she will happily eat pasta dishes then try looking up lots of different sauce ideas. Try and mix as much as possible into the sauces with the pasta - lots of veg in the bolognese sauce for example.

Maybe try getting her involved in the food preperation. I've had a step in the kitchen and my LO has been helping me out for a very long time (or watching me cook). We discuss everything we are doing and he loves being involved and will try anything we make together.

Have a browse through the forums and look for threads on fussy eaters and I'm sure there will be plenty of tips and ideas there.

Hey and welcome x

Its not a silly question at all. My 2yr old is the same - he wants pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner

He wont eat it mixed with anything just plain but I always have another bowl with whatever we are having and he is just starting to try other things now. My eldest was very fussy and I just didn't give her any choice of what to eat and she did go to bed hungry a few times but is a fab eater now. Tried this with my son but it didn't work. We made pizza together last week and he loved it. He enjoyed choosing his toppings (and it wasnt pasta )

xxx

Thankyou all from both of us for all your replies. Each of which have been helpful. Its just a relief to know that pasta day in day out is not harmful and will now try to experiment with different homemade sauces with LO helping. She does eat raw onions carrots and peppers when she watches me cook although spits them out if they are cooked lol. Am going now to look at all.the recipes. Then going to Amazon to see if they will deliver to Spain. If not will pop into Gibralter next week to the bookshp there to see if I can buy annabels books. Once again thankyou

If she eats her veg raw then let her have them raw. There are loads that are very good raw. Why not try making up some nice dips to go with them. Salsa tomato based ones, yoghurt based one. My sister was never a fan of cooked veg and to this day will eat lots of them raw by preference. I myself would only eat cauliflower raw till a couple of years ago when I discovered cauliflower and cheese mash.
