Default How can I keep baby food safe on a day out

Hi, I've been making home made food for my little one ever since we started weaning, in fact she's never had any food out of a jar or anything. What worries me though is how to keep her food safe when we're on a day out. Currently I zap food in the microwave and place in airtight containers before we leave the house but if we're out for a full day then it may be 7-8 hours later before they get eaten so worried about the potential for food poisoning...it's just not hot food not being hot but cold food becoming warm that is worrying me.
Don't always go somewhere where there are likely to be places to eat and I'm reluctant to resort to readymade shop bought food when so far we've managed without...
Am I worrying unduly...doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the popular baby food books about potential problems...or has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

I used just bring fruit and veg dishes for a day out. I'd let them defrost in the fridge overnight, pop them in a cooler bag to keep them cool while out and about and they were just fine. The main problems arise with meat and fish dishes so avoid bringing those and you'll be fine. If your LO takes finger food then it's even easier. Breads, fruit and the like are easily transportable and shouldn't be a worry.

i had one of those Avent bags that keeps hot things hot(ish) & cold things cold - to be honest you'll only need to worry about this for a short time, you'll soon have them eating finger foods so you'll be able to feed the baby a bit of whatever you are eating on the day out.
