Thumbs up Scrummy alternative to mash potato

being on a diet i'm trying to cut my carb intake so last night we had celeriac mash and it was not only scrummy but just as filling as mash potato.

you cook it just like you would potatoes for mashing & i seasoned ours with salt & black pepper and a drizzle of olive oil will def be having it again instead of mash potatoes

Cauliflower blitzed up with a little cheese is a really good alternative too.

Celearic also works really well in a dauphonoise instead of spuds.

Nothing like parsnip, at least not the ones I eat. Nowhere near as sweet. I would agree that it has a slight aniseed twang, or soemthing like that. I definitely recommend trying it and sure if you don't like it dump it. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Although in my case it'd be more a case of nothing ventured nothing lost as I use it instead of spuds all the time since Jan - cut out the carbs and lost 17lbs

Do you treat it like spuds in terms of cooking and mashing with butter and milk or just milk if you're being good might give it a go, have never had it and also want to cut down on carbs. Am sure it won't last though, am a carb fiend
