Default Help Please!

Hi Everyone,

I need some help please. My auntie was meant to be coming up and cooking dinner Christmas day and Boxing day but she's not now. So we now have a massive Turkey crown and Topside of beef that we haven't got a clue what to do with. Anyone know the best way to cook these please? I haven't got any idea what temperature to cook them at or for how long!

Thanks x

You could try this for the turkey crown - it's pretty much how I do it when I cook one.

For roast beef I usually just lob it on a baking tin, season with some salt pepper and smear on a little oil then roast it at 170oC for 20 mins per lb and then 20 mins over (so a 2lb piece of meat will take 60 mins - 20x2 as it's 2 lbs plus 20 more ifywim). If I'm doing it in a fan oven I just put in in the oven same time I turn it on, (i.e. I don't preheat the oven). If I'm cooking in a non-fan oven, which I unfortunately have here then I preheat to 180 instead of 170 and cook for the same length of time.

Hope they worked out well. Cooking Christmas dinner for the first time can be rather daunting - I help my Mum for a long number of years but having to do it the first time on my own was still rather scary.

The turkey was absolutely perfect! The beef wasn't quite done after the time so obviously I left it in longer but I had to go out unexpectedly so left my dad keeping an eye on it and when I got back it was very slightly over done but still delicious so thanks again!
