Hi,
I have a 6 month old who's been weaning for a month. He's now on 3 meals a day but still breastfeeding. He gets really bunged up and the only thing I've found that helps is stewed apple but I don't know about hime but I'm getting bored of all the apple! He's not very good at drinking so I'm trying to add water to his food cos that seems to help to. Just wondering if any of you have any yummy top tips to keep my darling boy regular and a less alarming colour when he goes! Thanks. |

im going to keep an eye on this thread as my son is pretty much always constipated and then he poos it all out then goes back to being constipated. he's 9months and never drinks water, so im going down the naughty route of giving him one watered down feed every day.

When Isabella was struggling I made her the AK recipe 'My favourite porridge' with prunes added as well as the apricots. It's guaranteed to get things moving and it the best brekkie ever!
Apple contains pectin which can bung them up so I would be careful with that xx |

Katie was bunged once and I used prunes, just as Isabellasmum has suggested.
From AK's 'Feeding Your Baby and Toddler' page44: Juicy pear and prune puree Ingredients ~ 2 ripe pears, peeled, cored and chopped ~ 2 stoned prunes, chopped ~ 1 tbsp baby rice Technique ~ Simmer the fruit in a saucepan with a little water for 5 minutes. Puree to the desired consistency, using as much cooking water as needed. Sieve to get rid of the tough prune skins. ~ Stir in the baby rice while warm This did help Katie. After that period of her being bunged, I gave her 'Apple & Pear, with raisins and cinnamon' every morning. It's another AK one, the same book, page 45. Apple & Pear, with raisins and cinnamon Ingredients ~ 1 sweet eating apple ~ 1 ripe pear, peeled cored and chopped ~ 1 tbsp raisins ~ 1 tbsp pure apple juice (not from concentrate) ~ a generous pinch of cinnamon Technique ~ Put all the ingredients into a saucepan, bring to the simmer, then cover and cook for 5 minutes. Blend to a puree and allow to cool a little. We always had this in the freezer. We didn't stick to the suggested amounts - I'd use about 10 apples and pears at a time and a truck load of raisins. That way, all I'd have to do is take out a couple of cubes from the freezer the night before, and leave in a wee food bag in the fridge. |
