Default Help with sweetening puree

Hi,

I've just made some plum puree for my 6.5 month old twins. I added a pear as the plums were a bit sour, but it's still *really* tart and I'm sure they won't eat it as it is

What else can I add to sweeten it? I wondered about a bit of maple syrup, but was worried that might have the same botullism spores as honey.
Thanks

Jo

I really wouldn't add anything. Try them with it first as they may well surprise you. Both mine loved sour tastes and my son will even suck lemons!

You could try mixing it with some greek yoghurt instead.

I agree with Ellie H, just try them with it and see what happens. My LO also likes sour / tart stuff and it never seases to amaze me as to what he'll eat.

Yoghurt is great for adding to fruit purees. Alos ff you have baby rice or readybreak you could add it to that, I have always added fruit purees to readybreak and weetabix for my LO for breakfast and he loves it.

I agree with Eillie H and Dr P
My LO like the sour tart taste, he loves lemons too.

I add fruit puree to his ready brek and weetabix every day. He loves it.

You could add it to their breakfast but i wouldn't add anything else like sugar to it. How about adding it to yoghurt. x

I agree with the others. I would just give it really positively and if they don't take the first time, I would try again.

I have used this Sunwheel Pear & Prune Pure Fruit Spread 300g by Sunwheel from GoodnessDirect to sweeten rhubarb when making some stewed for me and my little one both to eat, but this is still loaded with sugar (albeit fruit sugar so a little better in my book and subject to more natural variance than the refined stuff).
