Thumbs down 4g of salt per knorr stock cube!

I can't believe I only discovered this today.

I knew we made our own stock because other stocks have salt in, but I didn't realise HOW MUCH!

I just made a large pot of soup, and didn't season it, but popped in a couple of stock cubes instead.

I think it's shocking. On the box it said 0.9g per 100ml. It only slowly dawned on me that you have to make up 450ml to use it properly, thus making it 4.05g per cube. I have added 8.1g of salt to my kids' soup!!! Ok, so there's easily about 14 portions or so in the pot, but I'm still hacked off.

must admit i have used these (as couldn't find the very low salt organic ones we usually have think called kalo) recently but thought ds (9months) has a small portion and is only likely to have a meal using stock once or twice a week ( i hope ).

But what is also strange are the baby stock cubes boots does and now hienz which both have "low salt" or "controlled salt" - how then are they suitable for babies (can use from 4 months i think)?

so understand you being hacked off.

The Boots ones have 0.03g sodium, so that must be (x2.5) 0.075 per 100ml. You make 500ml for recipe, making it only 0.37g salt per cube.

I figured my two were old enough to use 'normal' cubes. Hmph...

I normally use the kalo organic ones, and the boots ones.
Haven't used knor with Leo before, anyway he's not so keen on soup
