Default Sweet treats?

Following on from the Nesquick thread, how often do your little ones have sugary/sweet treats?

I am desperately trying to restrict the amount my girls have but it's hard when they see Granny twice a week and they are loaded with sweets, and hubby always has sweet treats in the cupboard.

Do you allow them to have biscuits?
Do you allow them to have squash?

What healthy treats do you let them have other than fruit?

Tx

Sounds like my girls. (phew i'm not alone)

I really want to get a grip of it though. I never had what they have as a child. With hubby & MIL's support (yeah right) i'm gonna try and restrict the treats to weekends only and not keep them in the house.

Oliver has sweets far too often! OH is always coming home with junk for him. He has a biscuit at least once a day; rich tea, jaffa cakes, borbons, custard creams, jammy dodgers (whatevers in cupboard!)

He has some juice most days (very weak) but alternates with milk & water.

He loves fruit but also carrot, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese

Evan hasnt really got much of a sweet tooth so hes quite good really. He only really gets sweets when he visits his nannys or if I have to go round the shop for something (which doesnt happen very often anymore as its quite far away now we moved)

I dont buy biscuits or cakes because if I did, I would probably sit there and eat the whole packet until they were gone The only thing Evan eats on a regular basis are those yogurt covered fruit flakes. He has a packet of them nearly every day. He would much rather have them or raisins and carrot sticks than cake and sweets.

Mine have water and an innocent smoothie as a treat (also helps them poo )

They will have a biscuit every day, and sometimes a funsize chocolate treat...

Other treats are rasiens/oranges (they love to peel them)/bread sticks sometimes pass as biscuits..

I do try and stop them but somedays i just want a quiet life...

Im really mean with sweet treats and rarely give them to Lil, she is never purposely bought them, she only has them if its a bite of mine or Daddy's. Im lucky that she will happily eat plenty of other things so i dont buy them for her. I figure the longer she is unaware of sweet treats the better, i dont want to her grow up with my sweet tooth!! I do have suspicions that MIL gives her treats on the 2 days she goes there, although she has never admitted it. Lil comes home and tells me that she has had choc choc!

Juice is never given unless we are out and im caught out then i will probably buy a fruit shoot, but she happily drinks water and milk which i would rather she have. I dont keep biscuits in the house or i would eat them!!

Now i've read that back im actually pretty mean!!

Jess has juice everyday, her favourite is apple squash I buy the one from sainsburys with no added sugar.

Jess loves ice gems so sometimes has a packet of them or cereal bar. She loves breadsticks so I give her those with some philly to dunk.

I haven't really got a sweet tooth but hubby has so him and Jess have sweeties at the weekend.

Jess loves fruit so has that more than sweets.

I don't give Oliver juice but when we are in the UK I will give him an innocent smoothie and he likes those but he is happy with water and he loves his milk.

As far as chocolate goes I am a bit mean and I never give him any other type of sweets although at christmas time he was eating a chocolate treat every single day and I had to cut that out Having said that last week he ate half of a big cupcake when we were away and another smaller one on monday for his friends birthday so all I do is make sure he doesn't have any choc the rest of the week now.

For healthy snacks we give

Breadsticks
Fruit
Veg / hummus
Pita bread with avocado dip
Toast
Yoghurt
Rice cakes which he doesn't really love tbh
Cheese/ crackers
Raisins but more often than not doesn't eat them

Good luck - it is hard thinking of different things to give them all of the time. x
