I didn't watch the programme but am aware of how you can easily eat salt without realising how much -
e.g I buy bread, white, wholemeal, wheaten etc
Just looked at a loaf of white hovis - 1 slice has 0.16 sodium x 2.5 to get the salt = 0.4g per slice, 2 slices = 0.8g

my 3 year old ate 2 slices of toast the other morning which means quite a lot of his daily salt intake. This made me conscious to have less salt in the rest of his meals.

Granted he doesn't eat that every morning but if any of us actually sit down and look at the packaging it is surprising!

I thought it was a bit ridiculous to be honest. The interviewer had clearly made her mind up what angle she was going for and wasn't prepared to listen and we all know they edit to suit their particular view which then twists the whole thing.

The point is that children are not meant to eat ready meals all the time, they are mean't to be occasional and part of a balanced diet and I actually agree to an extent with Annabel's comment about educated parants, surely people should care to understand what they are feeding their kids?

This is an interesting thought, if you give your toddler a sandwich for lunch then you've already given them practically half all of their salt allowance for the day before you even think about the filling, cheese, ham etc all have quite a bit of salt in them and then there is the marg...

Ak's meals actually have less salt in them than a piece of toast & marmite!

It is scary just how much salt is put into processed food.

tbh i'm more worried about him not eating enough, let alone worrying overly about how much salt is now in it!! god,: will the woes of motherhood neverend!
