Feeling guilty...
Hi,
Feeling a bit guilty. My daughter (3 years old) never really had fish fingers, spag hoops etc...mainly because she just wouldn't eat them! She did have beans or cheesy beans on toast but again not v often. She tended to have purees like one pot chkn and spag bol...and plum baby pots.
James however, loves spag hoops!!!! He is allergic to dairy and egg so I have to be careful what I give him. I do cook several meals (if not prob most meals) during the week but they do have fish fingers, wedges(HM) and spag hoops or beans or just spag hoops or beans on toast. Holly like spag hoops with cheese on toast fingers.
Just once or twice a week is making me feel guilty...esp thinking about the salt/sugar. I am at work all week and they are in nursery during the day where all meals are prepared on site and are prety healthy.
I know I;m being daft....just sometimes I think that they should be eating all hm stuff!!! Also, when I make a nice casserole etc....they turn their noses up at it but spag hoops and heinz veg soup.....troff the lot!!!!! ARGH!!!
Sorry......just having a grump!
xxxx

ah , don't feel guilty, we're all doing that now, started out good intentions, organic, fresh homemade, soon turns to to, tins of beans, fish fingers, burgers, chicken dippers etc. i think everything in moderation is totally fine, a few spag hoops aint gonna hurt every now & then. just keep it balanced. you can only do your best & if one/two nights a week that means beans on toast, then so be it, beans are good for them, toast is good for them. sorted. xx

Dont feel bad they are all different, Livvy loves proper meals but Jessimae doesnt as much, she will eat them but much prefers snacky type meals (like me..) and they both worship HOOPS, they would eat them every meal if they could...
ask them what they want for breakfast/dinner/tea they both say hoops/bread/cheese...

Like the others have said, don't beat yourself up about it, Finley eats these foods and it doesnt bother me as I know he eats fresh HM food all the rest of the time with veg and fruit.
They're kids, they're suppose to love the foods we dont! x

I don't think there's anything wrong with hoops, beans, canned soup etc. They are very convenient following a busy morning/afternoon. There's far worse around! My only fear is that they can be a bit bland and it might turn Flo off other food, but no probs so far. She sees 'essispagetti' as a treat.
Life's too short to beat yourself up. x

Blimey, yes totally agree with the others, they're not having burgers/fried food every day, so really don't worry. Finlay doesn't really like hoops although keeps asking for them but he loves fish fingers and beans, chicken dippers etc and he gets them every so often and there have been times where he's had it lots because it's what he's wanted and saves a drama when we're both tired!! And as for the sugar and salt side of things, again, I wouldn't be worrying I too started off all keen and eager, fresh HM purees/meals but there soon comes a time where the good old fish finger needs to make an appearnce Don't worry xxxxxx

Again I totally agree, my girls love spaghetti hoops, beans etc and I don't mind them having them because I know the rest of the time I'm making them home-made food that's good for them. I think it's totally unrealistic to expect so much from yourself, you're a busy working mum and sometimes there just isn't enough time to prepare fresh meals every day. Give yourself a break, it sounds like you're doing a fab job xxxx

We have beans on toast at least once a week, sometimes twice and love fish fingers, I think they are good meals!
