My fight against jar food begins........
i have always hated the idea of babies being fed jars for many reasons. But the final straw came yeaterday. When in boots i saw a pack of 4 oragnix bannana porrigde reduced to 40p (stil in date for 6 months) and bought them foe when we go away in a few weeks, thinking they would be a handy breakfast for imo. When i read the ingredients at home i was shoked that the 'porridge' was infact 92% fruit and 8% baby rice, where i ask you is the porridge? Where sthe carbs to get the baby started for the day? Your basically giving them fruit and nothing filling. my friend with was with me admitted her lo always had it and was hungry after no time and now she knows why. i am now writting to the the goverment to ask wether they are aware of the problem with baby food. Like the fact that jars contain only (at most) 8% meat protien when it is advised their meal should be 30% proetien. Even when they say vegtables it is usually only 'potato (which is'nt even a vegtable) onions (hardly worth calling a vegtable) and carrots. The calorie intake is poor, about 80c per 100g, which is like the containt of vegtables. Imo is under weight even though she is raised on homemade food filled with butter, lots of meat ect so what would her weight be if she was raised on just jars like some babies? I feel like alot of mums dont understand the problem with jars and that they dont understand that they are nothing more than empty tummy fillers. I will also write to food makers like organix and ask why the porridger has no porridge but my main gripe is with hienz. Do they really think a baby should be raised on 'spagetti hoops and hotdogs' 'bake beans and bacon' and cauliflower cheese, pasta and potao (they are using 2 carbs to fill it out)? I get so angry!!!! Any other questions you think should be raised befor ei put the latter together? Beth xxxx
