Default 8.5 month old wont eat

Ive posted here before and things did seem to get a little better but weve gone backwards again. It may be teeth but he had a really high temp yesterday and as expected wouldnt eat anything and today his temp seems better but still wont eat. Before he would eat bananas/blueberries etc... now nothing.

Im just not enjoying the food bit at all - since 6 months its been difficult and its a shame because i was so looking forward to it!!!!!!!!! He doesnt eat enough to keep a butterfly alive as far as im concerned. He doesnt just keep his mouth shut but cries if i try and put anything in it - spoon etc... nothing in his mouth i.e thrush etc... im at my wits end.

Ive weaned him down to 2 BF in the day and dont want to go back on this as im returning to work soon, but do i give in and give him milk because at the moment hes not having enough of anything

Please help

Isabella always stops eating when she is teething which is scary but I'm used to it by now.

She would also only ever eat finger foods - will your lo eat these? Some babies just seem to hate spoonfeeding xx

Default My 7 1/2 month old will only eat a couple of spoonfuls

My 7 1/2 month old will only eat a couple of spoonfuls at a mealtime, which is an improvement on just clamping her mouth shut and crying if I put food near her. I started weaning her at 5 months and get very despondent when I meet up with friends and their babies and see them tucking in to big pots of food, followed by a yoghurt and then seem to still want more! I have tried lots of different foods, starting really slowly and on basic fruit and veg but she just isn't that interested. She does seem to really like touching food though and sometimes will only eat a spoonful if her hand is in the bowl too (messy I know!) I think she is quite independent (or wants to be!) and likes some finger food I have given her - rice cakes, sweetcorn rings, cheese straws - however when I give her fruit or veg as finger foods she doesn't eat them just plays with them. As much as I find it hard I've realised that being patient is the only thing I can do, forcing food in her mouth is futile and will probably cause more harm than good. Some days are better than others but I guess it is all just tastes now and milk still has to be their main diet. I too am going back to work in 4 weeks and am still breastfeeding day and night feeds. My lo will not take formula in bottle or cup as yet! When they are really hungry they will eat. As long as she is getting enough fluid and then I'll still b/f first thing and before bed (and night for now while she adjusts tome going back to work) then I know she is not starving. Sorry to ramble on, not been much help but do understand a bit of what you are going through.

Hi, I posted something last week and it has been all change for me know too! My lo will not eat anything now, especially from a spoon. The only thing she sometimes takes a bit of is weetabix and will put toast in her mouth and chew but not eat. She was taking a small amount of puréed veg but now won't even try it. I have been trying lots of different finger foods (little pasta, grated cheese, mange tout, banana slices etc) but she just plays with it and then throws it on the floor. The HV suggested I drop the mid morning breast feed in order to make her hungrier, which I have now done but nothing changed yet. I too am going back to work in a couple of weeks and am anxious that she is not taking anything apart from the milk feed I give her mid afternoon (which I will have to stop then too). Have you had any progress with your lo that you could suggest I try too?
