Don't have much time now-but do a search for fussy eater . There have been a number of posts in the past few weeks about good eaters turining into horrors...
basically it can be anything form teething, to trying to assert some independence. Key is to be consistent and not give in and give him something else or a lot of snakcs in between. If it is teething try cold things like fruit strips from the freezer of in baby safe feeders. Stage can last anywhere from a week to a few months (espescially if it's teething) Lots of lucka nd will try to find links to toher posts when I have a minute. |

Hi,
I don't have any answers but just wanted to say that I am going through exactly the same thing and have been for some months now. Molly also ate everything offered to her when she started weaning but now has a very limited diet and every single meal time is a nightmare! I still cook everything for her but often wonder if it is worth it as there is so much wasted but I know that it is the right thing and occasionally she does has shop-brought stuff like Birds Eye Chicken Fingers which always go down fairly well. I don't know how long it will last but I am absolutely sure it is a phase (albeit a very long one so far!!!) and I know it'll pass or at least improve with time. I used to get so stressed out until very recently (this weekend actually) when I finally made the decision that enough is enough, no more stressing and no more turning mealtimes into one long fight. It's tough but stick with it, I'm sure it'll get better. Hopefully your LO may just be going through a phase that will pass quickly, I'm sure as soon as he is hungry he'll tuck in to whatever you give him. Sorry I don't have any answers (who does!!!) but at least you know you are not alone, there are others in the same position. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Hi Lucky
![]() My daughter Sophie went through the very same thing not so long ago. I made her home cooked food (as I am now doing for my son) she was a very good eater from when I weaned her UNTIL she was around the 20/21 month mark then it was war. She would clamp her mouth, went as stiff as an ironing board , wouldn't eat her dinner, for lunch, she would of normally had a sandwich or scrambles eggs but no, I was lucky to see if she had half of anything, it was only breakfast time she was ok. She did still eat her fruit & raisins so at least I knew she had something in her but it was hell seeing her not eat & such a big worry so I know what your feeling hun. She has been eating well now for the last month so i'd say it lasted about 2/3 months but every child is different as you know, it did feel like forever but im glad to say it does pass & is just a thing that some toddlers go through. I think the reason with Sophie not eating is just purely to test me & how i'd cope (they are to clever) also she is just learing new skills & games & words every min of everyday so its all to exciting & more interesting then eating. At least he is eating something, even if it is the same thing everyday. I hope you LO eats more soon, keep me posted ![]() Nat x Last edited by NatalieNO1 : 13-02-08 at 22:33. |

Hang in there, my big, strong, would eat anything, 19 month old is doing exactly the same thing!
Iv found that he eats better when we all eat together as a family so breakfast and lunch are a breeze but dinner can sometimes be a struggle if its not pasta. My friends says her son was like it from 2 until 4 but he is really healthy so Im not too worried, thank god for AK hidden veg pasta sauce I say! |

My lo is going through exactly the same!! Its so reassuring to know am not the only one!
I work full time (worst luck ) and at the mo we are not eating together much but on the days we are eating together its so much easier. Sometimes though wont eat his own but will eat off mummy and daddys plate but its a start! Going to bite the bullet and start cooking more in the slow cooker so its ready when we get home so we can all eat together to see if that helps.Have been really tough the last week and if he doesnt eat his meal then no yougurt/snacks etc. Feel really horrible doing it but he has started by eating a mouthful then pointing to the fridge for a yougart which he wants!! Feel a bit of a wicked mummy but am reassured it wont last long!! Hang in there - it gets easier (so am told!!) |

Hi, It is soo good to see i am not the only one struggling with this. Melissa used to love almost anything i fed her but the last month or so have been a nightmare, i am no longer allowed to feed her or she eats nothing and even though she is really good at feeding herself she hardly touches the meals we make then decides she has had enough and wont touch any more.
I worry because she isnt a big girl and i dont want her to lose weight. Hopefully it will get better soon |
