Default Finger foods for 9 month old

Hi
My daughter went from being a good eater approx one month ago, to refusing all food on a spoon, except yogurt! She has had a cold and a top tooth coming through which has not helped. She will eat finger food, but am running out of ideas for variety. Im struggling to find things that are soft enough for her and not a choking hazzard. She is having cheerios, shreddies (snapped in half!) and half slices of banana at breakfast time or toast with marmite. For lunch and dinner, I have been giving her either pasta twirls, cut in half and mixed in one of her purees, mini cauli florets with grated cheese, cheese on toast, steamed strips of fruit etc. But am struggling with ways to give her chicken, other than tiny strips grilled or steamed and fish which she can pick up herself and eat, without it falling apart. I would be very grateful for any suggestions, also suggestions for what to do with all my lovely homemade AK icecubes of food, sat in my freezer! Many thanks, H

When Alexander was teething i used to make him AKs chicken meatballs straight onto his high chair with a big dollop of soured cream or homemade tomato salsa.
Why dont you make some of these & use your AK meals as sauce to dip them in?

Thanks Alexanders Mummy. I will look for the chicken meatball recipe and give them a go. Think I am going to have to puree up some of my mashed cubes and use them for sauces. Shame to have it go to waste. The chicken and veg ones would probably make a nice soup for me - they smell delicious!

I would cook them altogether & give them to hubby with pasta or rice,he wouldnt know & tbh he would eat anything lol!!

The meatballs were brill for me as at least i knew what he was having even if he only ate 2 or 3 it was something good inside him.

Let us know how you get on hun,

Paula xx

Paula, you've mentioned these chicken balls a few times, they're not in any of the AK books I have, could I be a real pain and ask you to post the recipe hun?? They sound nice and I too am having trouble getting Finlay to eat meats as fingers foods, he doesn't really like it

with the frozen cube food, have you heard of those mesh feeder things i only spotted it in sainsburys today and you basically put it into the feeder and they hold it and eat it through that it kind of looks like a lolly/dummy.......just an idea

I agree with the suggestion for a mesh feeder ...... I have one which I used for fruit when trying to get my dd on finger food. Didn't think of using for getting rid of purees though.......... Finger food suggestions, I'm not sure if you've tried it but pitta bread fingers and houmous, or even veggie fingers and houmous; strips of cooked meat; cheese fingers; lumps of cucumber; whole peeled apple (scared me at first but really works even with only 2 teeth); blueberries (whole, but split them due to tough skin); clementine segments (skin off); organic branded crisp snacks; cracker bread with butter and marmite .......... basically you will be surprised as baby's will "gag" before they choke and after a while they get the knack of it so well that you stop panicking and they don't choke!!!!!!! Good luck.
