I let my 3 and half year old key in the numbers if he is with me and no one else about or behind in a queue. (And no he won't have unsupervised access to my card).

Hi
Im new to this forum and need some help please.

I am a mum to 2 children, Samuel age 4 and Emilia (AKA Meme) age 2. I work 4 full days a week and I don’t have much time to prepare meals etc when I get in from work. Long days in our house, plus hubby works shifts.

Sam will eat anything ( and I mean anything) if he's in an "eating" mood. If he's not he just wont eat anything (even sweet things)
Meme on the other hand has a fantastic appetite and will eat loads but is very very fussy. We often have to force fruit / veg down her. She loves meat, carrots, potatoes and bananas, that’s about it ( she's just like her daddy).

I try both of them with new foods all the time, we look at all the diff fruit / veg in supermarket but we always seem o end up eating the same.

So I need ideas on how to get both of my children to eat more fruit and veg and quick / easy meal ideas for all the family, even the 2 fussy eaters ( Meme and Daddy)

Thanks
Jan

Tagliatelle (or which ever pasta you choose)

Melt Butter
Add milk a bit a a time stirring in between
Add cheese
Add tomatoes
Add mushrooms
Season
Allow to simmer

Hey ladies - long time hey?

I made this for tea tonight and it went down a storm so I thought I would share...

600g (about 6 medium) potatoes
Milk
Butter
16 fish fingers
1/2 an onion
1 tin of tomatoes
2 rounds of spinach, chopped (i used tesco frozen, it comes frozen in circles)
1 tbsp tomato puree
2 tsp sugar
salt and pepper
100g cheese

Preheat oven to 200 degrees
Peel and dice the potatoes and put on to boil
Grill fish fingers
Fry onion until soft
Add tomatoes, spinach, sugar, puree and seasoning
Bring to the boil and then simmer for a couple of mins
Lay the fishfingers in the bottom of a dish (like you would use for lasagne)
Pour over the tomato mixture
Mash the potato until smooth and add some milk and butter
Add 50g of cheese to the potato
Spread the potato on top of the tomato mixture
Sprinkle on the rest of the cheese
Bake for 30 mins

YUM!

xXx

We rely on our parents for babysitting duties whilst myself and hubby are at work. Also, with Ruby starting school they will be helping out with some pickups.

When it comes to nights out we feel really cheeky asking parents as they help so much in the week but we've had quite a few "couply" events lately such as weddings etc.

My ex next door neighbour has just mentioned that her 16 yr old daughter is trying to raise money for 2 trips for her A'levels and would be interested in babysitting. She is a responsible teen and I would feel comfortable leaving the girls with her.

My question is, do you use teenage babysitters and how much do you pay them? Do u pay them by the hour or for the full evening. Also, do you pay their taxi fayre on top?

Cheers

From netmums!

Tuna Pasta Bake

This is a really nice, simple dish that the whole family can enjoy!

dried pasta
1 onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, crushed
1 tin tuna
1 tin chopped tomatoes
mixed dried herbs or oregano
grated cheese
cheese sauce

Put the pasta on to cook for about 10 minutes (allow 75g-115g/3oz-4oz dried pasta per adult, and about half this per child). Drain the pasta once cooked.

Use tuna in oil if you have some. Pour a bit of the oil from the tuna into a pan and fry some onion and garlic (if you have it). Pour away the rest of the oil. Add the tuna to the pan, and heat through and mix up for a minute.

Add a tin of chopped tomatoes and some mixed herbs or oregano, and a little black pepper. Cook for 5-10 minutes. Add to cooked pasta.

To make it into a 'bake' pile it all into an oven dish, pour over cheese sauce and top with cheese.
Bake for 20-30 minutes at 180 C/Gas 4.

I added cooked sweetcorn and a spoon of tomato paste and also used passata instead of the canned tomatoes and sprinkled breadcrumbs on top. A hit with all in the family! DD loved it (the recipe says 9 months...!) She managed the sweetcorn fine (loaded spoons) and was able to handle the bowtie pasta really well!

Hi

Ive got a nearly 8 month old daughter, who is weaning well and loves all the foods that i give her. She has now started to refuse her teatime bottle of milk, so i need to increase her fluid intake so shes doesnt get dehydrated. She will still have between 510-540mls of milk per day.

She will sip water but isnt much of a fan. Ive bought the boots baby spring water with a hint of fruit but it seems to have a strange taste. Ive also got her the heinz bottles which she seems to like.

What juice/squash do you give your little ones? Do you mix your own and if you do what proportions do you use etc? Its just going to work out rather expensive to keep buying the ready made drinks-not that we mind but it seems a bit of a waste.

Thanks:D
