OK, can you really complain about the cold???? It's -10C in the afternoon here (although I really haven't been out much at all in the past few days myself). Because I find it hard to get out of the house much on my own (and walks with the kids are usually not too strenuous- although I do tend to climb all over the play structure with them and chase them in the park), I have been starting a collection of exercise DVDs to use in the basement during nap time or when someone else is home to entertain the kids. Tried to do them with my kids awake and around me and that never seemed to work. Maybe as they get older.
I have found that weight training/ interval training DVDs are best for me (I hate aerobics- too much coreography). So far I have a good 10-15 minute workout DVD (with 4 different workouts). A DVD with a really good 20 minute sequence I use. Then for those days I feel motivated- Get Ripped 1000! Although I have yet to do the entire video- I usually get about 2/3 of it done though. Been too lazy this week myself since there has been a cold going through the house and been thinking about Christmas preparations. Need to start up again on the weekend! Is it that you like going to the gym or just like to do outdoor activity? |

I too have the Davina DVD and the Angela griffith one, they are both great fun and you can notice a difference when using them. I will use the DVD when my lo has gone to bed and I get my OH to give encouragement and help out (tidying up etc) so that I feel that I have a bit of time (I only do 1/2 hr) and also to have the encouragement from him.. I have always found it easier to exercise when I am in a class or with someone else as the gym is sooo boring and way too easy to talk yourself out off.

Well, I have to say that I hate exercising too. I don't mind being active (going for a walk or bike ride or something like that), but the idea of jogging or doing other specific "exercise" makes me want to curl up and take a nap. I also agree that I do like how I feel afterwards. Thats why I have been trying to be as efficient with exercise as possible. And really, even starting off with doing some squats and arm weights, I noticed a difference. Then I started doing the DVDs. I am guessing that each country has their own selection (I have never heard of Davina or any of the others mentioned on this site), mine are primarily American sources (Men's Health, Erin O'Brien and Jari Love)(Ok, the last one is actually a Canadian- but I got the DVD from an American source). They work for me because I know I prefer to do those kinds of exercises and be done with it.
That said, I haven't done them much the last couple of weeks. Little guy has been throwing some of his naps (my usual exercise time) and I didn't feel much like exercising with the cold going through the house. Just need to get myself back up on that wagon! Noababy- do you have any specific exercise you actually like to do? maybe focus on that and try to fit it into your day. |

Nope nothing I like doing. When I win the lottery later this year, will take a personal trainer for pilates and weight training. Notice I said when I am going to win not if. :-)
This is an excellent site for exercise videos/dvd's to buy: Exercise, Workout and Fitness videos & DVDs |
