It wont stop you losing weight if thats what you mean?

Its pretty weight neutral as SSRIs go but some people do experiance increased appetite with it.

Is that what you mean?

xx

I was prescribed Citalopram for pnd when my 2nd child was 6 - 9 months old by which time I had lost all my baby weight and was back to pre preg size 8 - 10. I am naturally quite lucky to be slim built but I put in a lot of work as well - being really careful what I eat, weights and running 10k 4 times a week. Despite continuing to do all this I steadily put on weight gradually with Citalopram - a stone in total which is a lot for me - took me back to my coming out of hospital weight. I tried really hard to get the weight off and really believe me I did because in all honesty I don't have a good relationship with weight (I had an anorexic spell in my late teens) but I just couldn't until I stopped Citalopram and then I lost half a stone in a fortnight - not doing anything different. It was my reason for stopping Citalopram (against my (male) doctor's wishes but I had reached the point my weight was making me more depressed than I'd been to start with. So, in my view, yes Citalopram can DEF cause weight gain.
