Default How to drop the 7pm feed?

Hi,
My baby Joshua is 7 months old this week and is taking two really good solids feeds a day, at 12pm (lunchtime) and 5pm (teatime). I breastfeed him at 7pm, 12am and 6am. I'm going back to work in two months but haven't got a clue how we are going to drop the 7pm feed. Joshua seems to use it for comfort. The 6am feed is not too bad as I will be able to do that before leaving for work, but I'm not sure if I can get back for the 7pm one.

Joshua will not take a bottle, and has refused it since 4 months as I use to express if I was on the go. He is accepting his blue beaker more and more, but not sufficiently for a feed, more for just thirst during a solids feed.

Can anyone help?

As milk remains the main source of nutrition for babies until they are one it's not really recommended that you drop feeds of babies under 12 months, but rather wait till they drop them themselves.

Why not try and move the feed a little later if that will allow you to keep it up once you are working, just shift it by five minutes or so every few days till it is at a more accecptable time.

Two months is a long time, you could also try to work on increasing the amount of milk he will take from a beaker over that time period and try to have the option of giving him a bf as normal if you are back in time, but if you aren't that he can be given a beaker instead.

I agree with DrP. I wouldn't drop a feed and would aim to just bf him once you are back home or give the milk to him in a beaker. Good luck. x

maybe he will take a bottle from someone else at 7pm, if you are still out of the house.
