Breastfed baby going ages in between poo's

Harry used to poo after every single feed up until just before he turned 7 weeks old then he went to every 2-3 days then he went 5 days and the last time he pooed was on the plane on the way back from England 12 days ago!!!!! When should I start to worry? He doesn't seem uncomfortable and I do remember Oliver doing the same although he never went this long. I wish he would just hurry up and do it! Has anyone elses BF baby gone this long or longer? x

Hiya hon, I know its very common for breastfed babies to go longer inbetween poos, it's good he doesnt seem uncomfortable but 12 days seems a long time, praps give your paediatrician a quick call to see what they say.
It may be completely normal for some babies though, sorry, not much help I'm afraid! x

Thanks SD. I know this is going to sound silly but my pediatrician here knows nothing about BF babies!! Hence why I am reluctant to call her as she will prob have us down to the hospital for tests immediately!!! It is hard to find a pediatrician here that knows much about breastfeeding

I have just given him a warm bath & he is doing plenty of stinky trumps!!!! Will have a google now, i hate googling things though

Well, he went last night & OMG was it messy! Major clean up operation & needless to say he had a new outfit on which was ruined. Now I just hope he starts being a bit more regular and doesn't save it all up! x

My boy was the same. Up until about 7 to 8 weeks they're still getting colostrum so they are more regular. After that they use nearly all of the nutrients in breast milk so there is little waste for them to pass.
My boy went nearly 3 weeks once, I was so freaked out. On average he went 10 days inbetween poos until he started eating solids regularly.
This is only if they're exclusively breast fed of course!

Thanks sarahjanelou! He is still going every 11-12 days!!! He is completely fine though and is not bothered by it at all!!! I, on the otherhand am!!! x
