Like Mummy2b I too am incensed at Fussymum's vitriolic attack on a woman I presume she has never even met! And in fact rather than putting people off using CBC I would imagine that she is actually doing a very good job at advertising her services since her arguments against her are clearly factually incorrect and based, I suspect, on no direct experience with CBC herself.
I am delighted to say that I am one of the countless mothers who has been helped by Clare and am forever grateful to her as, like the mother from the original post, I too was at my wits end after no other health professional seemed able to help me and I was advised to just 'give up' and bottle feed. Six months on I am still breastfeeding my daughter and she continues to thrive. Clare was able to fix the problem within a matter of ten minutes (and this after I had spent four days in hospital with hours and hours of suposed 'help' which did not get me anywhere). I now fully understand why everyone raves about her as much as they do. I know one friend who travelled to London to do Christine Hill's antenatal classes just because she had discovered that Clare taught the breastfeeding classes. I am therefore not surprised at all that someone might fly from abroad to see her when all else had failed! I would also like to add to this that I have followed Gina Ford's routines since my daughter was one week old and I give her full credit to mine and my husband's happiness and enjoyment of the past six months as we have a happy, contented and easy baby who has been a joy to be with every single day. We followed the routines to the letter and the results have been just fantastic. Our daughter was sleeping through the night from an early age and has never had much need to cry or become distressed as her needs are always at the forefront. Anyone who critisises Gina's routines clearly doesn't understand them and the benefits they bring to the child. Could I please ask that we all remember the purpose of this forum and keep future posts postive and informed rather than some of the snide remarks and drivel that comes out of the mouths of the likes of Fussymum. |

Hmmmmm......my opinions are factually incorrect?? YAY - I finally have something in common with the great Buymebook!!!!
I quote her from her own blog when she was trying to defend herself. "Although breast milk is "good" it is still full of natural sugars which may cause dental decay just like any other sugary drinks which are given too often. Clearly she is unaware that 1 Breast milk enters a baby's mouth well behind the teeth, a mothers nipple is well behind where any teeth might be. 2. The bacterium that causes cavities is strep mutans. However, there is a component in breast milk that fights and actually kill’s strep mutans, it's called lactoferrin. 3. The other antibodies in breast milk also counteract the bacteria in the mouth that causes cavities and decay. and is therefore not just like any other sugary drink. I LOVE her blog. It's great! It has me in stitches every time I read it and I could have a field day digging out factual inaccuries. I actually feel inspired to write my own book about the humourous side to breastfeeding myths. Clearly my own children will never be contented, happy, or a joy to be with because I rejected Gina Frauds routines and didn't have it me as a mother to stick to them. As for measuring my own success against hers.......well, really!!!!! I'd rather be an honest maggot catcher And what exactly is it with all these first posts from CBC customers? I don't think there have been any since the orginal "debate" from regular members. Does she offer a discount.......maybe I can afford her after all! Or is it the lady herself with multiple sign-on's??? I suppose we'll never know, but PLEASE keep writing your blog Clare, it's FAB, and it also helps me help other women as I can work out exactly what NOT to say to them! |
