I was going to suggest expressing a little, just to relieve the tension from your breasts. This will help prevent mastitus setting in. You will not be able to express enough to maintain a full supply. However, many women find that they are still producing some breastmilk 4 or 5 years after giving their last feed. Once a breast has fed it will always maintain that ability. (Grandmothers have been known to relactate to feed orphaned infants.)
Many mothers find full term breastfeeding works well and continues to support their baby's immune system as they start mixing with other children at toddler groups and playgroups. It really does stop all those nasty coughs/colds and vommitting bugs!
The World Health Organisation recommend that infants are nursed for their first two years and then for as long as the mother and child want to carry on.
