Yeah, you do need to express if you're weaning off the breast quite abruptly iygwim. Otherwise you risk blocked ducts and mastitis/abscess etc.
Not heard of foods affecting milk supply. afaik, the main effect of your diet is allergy related, if at all. I do know you should keep drinking as much as you always did (despite the old wives' tales) and that you need to prepare yourself for feeling a bit low cause the prolactin levels drop. I'll have a look at that bf website and see if there's anything about herbs etc affecting milk production. My first instinct is it's boll0cks, but what do I know? ![]() |

Apparently there are two ways recommended by LLL to decrease milk supply -
Oral contraceptive pills with estrogen and progesterone and drinking sage tea! Steep one tablespoon of fresh whole leaf dried herb in one cup of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes. Drink three cups a day until it has decreased to the desired level. Well there you go. What other foods do you reckon, Jenni? ![]() |

Parsley and Peppermint.. actually i know peppermint works when i was BF i was popping anacids and peppermints sometimes to get a taste out of my mouth
and my milk dropped big time i took some herbal remedies to INCREASE my supply which worked a treat! Oh and cabbage and jasmine i didn't use those but do ensure you express a bit again more to stop the infections and blocked ducts that can occur you cant just stop cold turkey kellymom.com :: Too much milk: Sage and other herbs for decreasing milk supply there is a good article telling you how to decrease your supply. |
