Default If you used formula, what did you use and why?

I used SMA gold with Rhys from early on as he was under UV light and had to supplement my milk for him: then moved to Nutramigen as he had a lactose intolerance; With Cara I am supplementing with SMA again as she is feeding so much I am tired/sore/cant keep up: a few days ago it was every 2hrs for abt 14 hrs!!!!!!!!

I always refused to Milumil and Aptamil and when I worked in a chemist's shop there was a big recall on these due to contamination: this was abt 12 years ago and it puts me off it to this day. Cow & Gate never really crossed my mind: guess going back even further to when I started in Boots (17 years ago....), SMA was out and C&G wasnt!

I use cow&gate as its the one that agreed with Seb Sma he wouldn't touch & cow&gate was other 1 I tried him on & he wolfed it down & had minimal upset so saw no point changing.
started using it as was planning on returning to work & couldn't express enough.

Just thought I'd ask as HVs, midwives, drs and pharmacists etc arent allowed to recommend one formula over another so its really down to people's perceptions and prob what name sthey know from advertising and what friends etc have used.

I used Aptamil purely because that was what my mum had used, and as both Matthew and Hannah seemed to like it ok I never bothered trying a different one once I stopped breast feeding them.

I put other as I used Farleys. The only reason I used that is thats what they gave me at the hospital when Evan was in SCBU. Figured there was no point in changing brands so just carried on when he was out. I did start off giving him EBM but then slowly weaned him off it when he was out of hospit by giving him half and half then giving him less EBM over time.

I used Aptamil with both of mine, I think although it wasn't recommended one of the medical staff suggested it.

Neither of mine have had any difficulties with it either. xx

I used SMA gold with Jess and Sophie although Sophie has only had a few bottles of formula as I'm still BFing. Never had any problems with SMA gold.

I chose this as my sister used it with my niece and never had any problems.

My friend is a maternity assistant and although they can't tell mums what to use they recommend cow&gate or aptamil.

xxx
