Default Bottle recommendations please!

Used Avent with Rhys and so bought BPA free ones this time for Cara but................

The honey coloured ones ie the more expensive ones leak everytime you use them from the neck area and she and whoever is feeding her ends up soaking and I get frustrated as its wasting my milk!!!!!!

So bought the cheaper milky coloured Avent ones (softer plastic) which come with an extra bit you put in the neck. They dont leak but after 1 day of use (and I am still breastfeeding so its not as if the bottle has been used 8 plus times in a 24hr period!), I am finding that the volume measurements are starting to rub off: at the mo the 40ml one and the 260ml one have more or less come off! So they are sh*** too.

So what you you recommend? I do like the wide neck bottles as easier to clean and fill. Does anyone use the Mothercare ones and do the Avent teats fit them? Cara's managing ok with the Avent teats so dont really want to switch to Tommee Tippee ones with a different teat if I can help it!

We used the Tommee Tippee ones with Little A and as you described they leaked and lots of wastage resulted. We're using Dr. Browns now and no problems. There wide neck teat is not as wide as the Tommee Tippee, HTH, D x

We used Avent all the way - there is the problem with them leaking, it's apparently a common problem with Avent bottles. I found if I just screwed the top on and off a couple of times it ususally solved the problem. I always check them before I use them - put a cap on, turn upside down and back up again quickly or give a quick shake and if nothign comes out it's sealed properly.

Gosh i tried loads of bottles in an effort to get Oliver to take one. I liked the tomee tippee closer to nature ones but that was prob to do with him liking the teat on that the best and once he was used to a bottle he also had the medela ones which i liked as you could pump straight into them. I had bought 2 small dr browns ones just to have before I had him. Hope you find something that works. We also had Born Free too but they leaked. x

I have the Medela ones as thats what my pump is but the local Mothercare dont keep the accessories for them ie the teats and lids!!!!! Think any standard teat fits but as got some variflow ones from Asda to bring into hospital as last time they only gave you medium flow which we think they did on purpose to make you feel guilty that you werent breastfeeding your child: I had to express with Rhys at the start in hospital cos he had jaundice and was under lights so they worked out how much fluid he needed per day and thus had to measure and give via biottle.

I've always used the Avent ones, but I found if you over-tighten them they do leak. I did what DrP said too, screw the top on and off a few times and do a quick check and its usually fine.

I used Avent bottles with Oliver and found the same! HUbby used to get really annoyed with it! We did the same, screw the teats on and off a couple of times!

I used Tommee Tippee bottles with Sophie and have never had a problem with them!
