Calling all big boobed breast feeders!

I am well endowed naturally: got up to a 38G whilst preg! Problem is I cant see how well Cara is attaching to me: often I get the nippy feeling so she's only on the nipple but I have big nips too (tmi?!) so I dont know if her mouth is too small to get nip AND Breast into her mouth...

Any ideas? Milk hasnt come in yet: prob be easier when it does and can "feel" it more? But want her to get the colostrum but worried she isnt getting it properly: has been having dirty nappies and a few wet ones only. She is a real hand sucker too so dont know if she is using me as a conforter too as theres no way she cud be feeding for 40mins... As she's so wee, dont want her losing much weight.

People with big boobies tend to have more success feeding sitting up in a comfy chair. Rugby position can be good. You can see what's going on better, and bubs has greater chance of oxygen

Don't worry about size of nips - bigger nips can actually make things easier. If she is having wet and dirty nappies then you're rockin and rolling missus - well done!!!!

If you are worried, you can squeeze an ickle bit out and give her it using a wee feeding syringe (same as the medicine ones really).

She probably isn't feeding for forty mins, but so long as you aren't sore, I wouldn't take her off. I'd take her off at an hour. Her on your breast for than length of time is ging to help the milk come in. Remember to tickle her toes and stroke her ears to keep her awake.

She will lose weight initially but so long as she starts to gain again don't worry hon. It's early days - heck it's early hours LOL and it sounds to me like you're on track!

I ussed the rugby ball position and it meant I had a hand free to have a peep and check all was well because I could hold my booby back a bit.

Hi hun,
I found sitting up straight in the chair with a cushion under baby helped, it gave me more support so I could manoeuvre baby's head with 1 hand & my booby with the other. My big nips meant that neither of mine ever got much booby in their mouths with it but it never caused probs with their feeding.

Hope the feeding is all going well. I found using a boppy pillow really useful & I did do the football hold to begin with once we were home as I had a c-section and this is apparently the best position for that too. Also the side laying position feeding them in bed was the best but I think it took me best part of a week to really get the hang of this so early days for you yet. If you can do it though it really is the best as you can still rest while feeding the baby. x

Latest issue was she hasnt pooed since abt 12 noon and hadnt done a wee from then til abt 6pm when I took all her clothes off and put her on cold changemat: then she did wee! Good job cos if she hadnt wee'd by 6.30pm I was phoning hospital!

I was 36H post preg and usual positions worked fine although it was a bit disconcerting that my boob was bigger than her head

Sounds like you're doing fab xxx

I know!!!!!!

Well, she was quite unsettled last night and abt 11pm had a feed and then rubbed her tummy a lot as she still hadnt done a poo but was doing bum burps: the tummy massage made her go!!!!!!

V unsettled nite as she just wanted held so hubby and I are wrecked; Rys slept thru it all!
