In so much pain...

Woke up in pain today with my left breast.
H only fed from one side during the night so I was all engorged and sore.
Tried feeding her from this side thinking it will ease and it isn't... appears I have a blocked duct

Have been feeding her in diff positions all day and can't seem to shift it.
Its all solid and painful across 2 areas of my breast and it is absolute agony

Just picked her up to take her upstairs to feed her upside down on the bed and she just wollaped me right in the chest (I could sob I really could)

Have sterilised the pump so am hoping if I express it will help a little.
Its really thrown me - can't seem to get anything done today now as everytime I get on with stuff I knock my chest and scream out loud *sigh*

Really hope this passes soon

Oooh that sounds nasty. Massaging your breast in sweeping motions towards the nipple might help while expressing, have you seen your GP?

Its agony isn't it, I've had it before. If the pump hasn't helped, get into a warm bath, fill it up so that when you lie down your breast is under the water and keep massaging the sore area towards the nipple. Try hand expressing under water, the heat and the massaging do help and you can see the milk coming out. Also try putting a cabbage leaf in your bra, it really helps to reduce the soreness and you'll see some milk leaking out as well.

I had it with Matthew and thats what I did, spent almost 2 hours in the bath and kept putting cabbage leaves in my bra all day. It helped ease the pain and I was able to keep feeding him and it did eventually clear up after 48 hours.

Fingers crossed the pump has worked though and you're feeling a bit less sore.

Yay feeling so much better

Didn't even need to pump in the end - just gave H two good long feeds upside down (bet it looked hilarious)
So glad thats over... might get a cabbage though lol
