Erm i'm trying to remember. It's a bit of a blur. She has never gone longer than 2 hours even at night. I would say on bad days every hour for about 45 mins though she did get more efficient as she got older. I did used to try to distract her with other things. She would cluster feed every evening too but would often cry at the breast at that time - I always assumed because the flow rate was slower but I don't really know.
I've always fed on demand and she never got into a feeding schedule. I'd have had a very unhappy baby if I'd tried to make her go 3-4 hours between feeds. I tried lots of distraction to try to get her to go longer between feeds.
Since starting solids. The length of time she spends at the breast has decreased and she has a bf on waking, mid-morning, mid-afternoon and before bed.
Don't get me wrong I don't mind doing all the feeding and the time spent with her was lovely but I'd just like to know if there's anything else I could have done. If I did have another baby I would prefer to be able to leave the sofa for at least some of the day lol and establishing a schedule and routine would be lovely
