I have been supplementing with formula for the past couple of weeks and am starting to regret it. It was basically because of concerns my baby wasn't following the growth charts as it should. Trouble is my supply is now dwindling fast and I think I'm going to end up completely formula feeding. This really isn't what I want. Someone I talked to mentioned relactation - is this really possible or is it a pipe dream? Also, is there anything I should have done differently in the beginning to help with the lack of weight gain and how can I help prevent this problem happening again?
Thank you ![]() |

I'm not an expert but I think pumping as well as feeding baby yourself will increase your supply. Also have heard motillium is good to increase supply, google it, or else ask hv or doc. Also fengreek (sp) a herb, HTH, D x

I did try pumping but I was getting very little out and it didn't seem to make much difference. My question is more about complete relactation than anything else because I really feel my supply will dry up any day I will look up the things you mentioned in the meantime. |

Thanks. I have spoken to people irl but have had conflicting advice and the more I hear the more confused I become. I know there has been a bit of controversy about Clare Byam Cook and I haven't read her book but I've seen plenty of television interviews but I do really like her and would really value her opinion and advice. Also if I am completely honest I am pretty much resigned to stopping breastfeeding but I just don't want to stop and then have this nagging doubt at the back of my head. I really don't want to stop but it looks like this is where it's heading. I don't think my baby is getting anything for the one feed she's having anyway, it seems to be more of a comfort thing.

I'm worried about breastfeeding infront of my largely male family. How can I do this discreetly?
Also when do you advise is best to start expressing as I'd like my husband to be able to give baby some bottles of expressed milk once baby is here and established with breastfeeding? Thanks in advance. ![]() |
