Default Book Recommendations?

Hi all

I was an avid reader before my darling LO came along, but since her birth I have struggled to find time to read! However, I will soon be going back to work, and expect I will have ample reading time on the train to and from work. But what to read? Anything good come out recently? I feel a bit out of touch on such things. What is everyone else reading at the moment?

Cheers. The book of night women sounds good, I'll give that one a go. I've read the True Blood and Twilight books already, and not really into Jackie Collins. But Night World series is new on me, so might try that, and Rosie Thomas looks interesting. Thanks for the suggestions!

Vampire Diaries too are good if you like that sort of book (the TV show is nothing like!)

LOL! Yeah, I don't mind a good vampire saga, although I haven't been obsessed with them in a long time. Back in the day I used to be an Anne Rice fan! But I'm certainly happy to read books that do not have vampires in them too! I have seen Vampire Diaries on telly and thought it was awful, so would probably never have tried the books. But if they really are better then I might give them a shot at some point.

They are nothing like the tv show! Not even half the same characters! I can't watch the show, think it's awful but read the books before it came on & enjoyed (infact I'm waiting for the final installment to be released next year)

The Help - very good read!!

I think I belong to the 'hate it' side of the Twilight fence!! Tried them, didn't like!!

I have been reading lots of crime recently by Val McDermid of a particular series she did of a criminal profiler ( made into a TV show called Wire In the Blood) . Not seen the TV show but these are yuckity yuck on gore. Vile but the cop characters and the profiler are fascinating. Easy to pick up and put down again.
