Default How many of us say nightime prayers with our LO's?

Just curious.

It is a really nice bedtime routine that we have with Noa.

We used to do it with the others as well, but our fault that it has fallen by the wayside-do have to get them to start saying the prayers again.

we really should as george's school is very c of e and they say the fathers prayer every morning, and grace before eating. We did start but never do it anymore, although we always say 'good night, God bless you' just something i have always done, although i got told off at work by a twat nurse who said it was seen as abuse because of non believers (fine but we've only ever had Christians and catholics, and they believe in God!) i still say it regardless

Oh my god! (Sorry about the pun!)
But I do say a prayer for my LO. We're not a practicing religious family, but every night i say the same prayer for her as she falls asleep.
I couldnt bear the thought of not saying it, and the consequences. (How strange is that!?)

Also - when i go back to work i have to work nights, so i've typed it out and out it underneath her cot mattress. That way, the meaning is there regardless.
Ever since using it, from 7 weeks old, she has slept soundly and in her own room. She's now nearly 20 weeks and perfect!

It's never occurred to me to say prayers before bedtime, which is odd, since for many years of my childhood and teenage years my family were heavily involved in a very modern church.

I've been debating recently whether to buy Ethan a book of bible stories as I'd like him to enjoy them the way that I did. I also wonder some days if we should join a church. I grew up with great friends in a church youth group and I really believe it kept us all on the straight and narrow and gave us a sense of purpose. The flip side of that was that it made me shy and the church leaders were beyond controlling. There are many ex-members who believe it was actually a cult, but the church is still thriving. That's a whole other thread though.

I think deep down I still believe in God, but having had my fingers burned I don't want the same thing for Ethan.

It sounds stupid that the question of whether or not to buy Ethan a bible stories book could throw up so many issues for me!

Anyway, I digress, in short, nope we don't say bedtime prayers.

Ellie-sometimes God's messengers are not doing God's work. Prayers are your way of talking directly to God-no middlemen. You can then pray for what you want in your own words.
