Default Can teethhing cause smelly breath?!

Hi All,

my LO is 26 months and after several stressful nights of not wanting to go to bed i think i've found the problem. I think i can see a tooth right at the back and it seems to be causing her a lot of pain, and its still not cut through yet. The thing is, since this started i've noticed her breath seems to really smell! I brush her teeth twice a day and have even started doing it at lunch time, however nothing seems to be helping! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or have any ideas how i can make it better? Will it stop when the tooth cuts? She never suffered with this until the last few days when this tooth seemed to appear.

Thanks in advance,
Di x

Just make sure your Lo is not running a fever. Sometimes the bad breath can also be strep throat.

Hi all, thanks for all your help and advice. I have checked and luckily LO doesnt seem to have a fever, so hopefully the problem is purely teething!

Thanks x

Thankfully Tilly now has all her teeth, but yes, when she was cutting the bigger back ones she stank!! Was a really distinctive smell too - sort of sickly sweet and really pungent - and she was dribbling this evilness all over the place too!

Hope your little one is not suffering.
And as susie suggests, if she is running a fever it may be more than just teeth - no harm in getting her checked out by your GP if you are not sure
