Default Dry skin

Mine to be precise.

Has anyone else noticed that since having a baby their skin is super dry at times? I always had small patches of dry skin on my knees and elbows but it has got worse plus I have dry skin on my eyelids which sometimes gets quite red and I get little cuts almost at the corners of my eyelids nearest my nose.

I end up using low strength steroid cream on my eyelids to calm if down. Have a Clinique eye cream but that stings and the moisture surge gel gell by Clinique doenst sting but just doesnt seem string enough.

Any advice?

i'd avoid using products like those by clinique and try a high moisturising cream from pharmacy. We use Doublebase which can be bought over the counter, it's really really good! Cleared up charlie and lois dry skin and is great on my hands, they get really dry this time of year with the cold weather and the central heating. HTH!

sounds like you might have some sort of dermatitis on your eyelids babe, maybe eczema, have you tried good ol' vaseline? or pure coconut oil (which is solid then turns liquid when to touch)??

hi hun
Yeah my skin is crap! Have always suffered with dry skin.

I also have stress related excema esp on my eyelids which is awful, they get really dry sore and itchy and if imnot careful they end up infected! Lovely!

Anway if they are bad the doc prescribes me 0.5% hydrocortisone cream, however last year they were really really dry and flaky and nothing would help.

Eventually I found that Elizabeth Arden do an 8 hour cream. It is really expensive but lasts ages and is the best! It is heavy for the eyes but I only use a tiny bit at bedtime and it was the only thing that gave me good moisturisation.

Leah has little patch of excema on her foot and backs of her legs the hydrocortisone helped but it was the dryness was the prob, her doublebase was not helping so she now gets some of my 8 hour cream and its helping!

I had a weird flare up of dry skin after Katie too, but I think it was more stress related than anything else. I tried most stuff, but a hydrocortisone cream seemed the best. Not good for eyes though. You thought about a relaxing spa and some herbal tea?
