Default Coughing...

Hi,

I have a 2 year old little boy who is currently cutting his back double teeth, he has suffered with teething before but nothing like what I am currently experiencing.

Everytime he eats he seems to gag and bring up all that he has eaten or he just refuses food, his not drinking a great deal and his evening cup he has drunk but then coughs and brings everything up including any of his dinner that he might of ate.

Is this just teething or could there be another problem. I gave him calpol tonight before his cup of milk as he was complaining of his teeth hurting, but then he had his milk and brought everything up, do you think I should give him calpol or try a cough medicine or should I mix????

Your thoughts are appreciated!!!

Gayle

Has he got a cold? coughing isnt caused by teething so i would think he has a cough/cold aswell, poor thingxxx

I personnally avoid cough medcines as they dont work, try abit of honey instead. Try some brufen rather than giving paracetamol again, my lo uses gags on milk if shes got a cough or snotty.

I would just give him little bits of food often rather than meals, lots of water and painkillers for his teeth, try and prop the head of his cot up abit if his cough is keeping him awake.

steam is quite good aswell if hes chestyxxxxxxxx

hthxxxx

Hi, I give my lo honey too - she thinks it is a kind of cough medicine - it works a treat. I also make her honey and lemon drink or fruit tea. If she has a cough/snotty I rub a little vapour rub on her chest and back and put Karvol on her bedding too, this combo usually guarantee she sleeps through the night, then give her Calpol if she has a temperature. My lo likes dentinox on her gums when teething xxx

Thanks

Hi Gayle,

I think your LO has been talking to my Rhys: another two vomits today due to phlegm. I was on way to work and DH hadnt left yet when Rhys vomitted over him: my inlaws who were to look after him today where next to useless when he was sick! So DH got me to come home so ended up taking a carers day. My MIL prob would have been ok if he had been sick but FIL is hopeless when it comes to non-playing childcare and MIl would have needed some help if he had been sick again.

Hope your boy is feeling better soon Gayle.

Hiya,

I hope Rhys is feeling better now, Jake is much better the honey worked a trick, he still has a little bit of a cough and has stopped vomitting so fingers crossed we are through the worst...

A little more help is required, he is teething, cutting his back teeth and his poo is really runny is this normal? Or could it be the honey/medicine he has been having, although he hasn't had this for a few days.... any thoughts?

Thanks

Gayle

Yes, I'd say runny poo was prob due to extra saliva due to teeth and also extra mucus due to cold/cough etc! It all has to come out somehow....
