When did your LO first smile???
Hi,
Worried about my little baby boy James. My little girl Holly smiled at 6 wks (checked her red book as I couldn't remember ), however James was 7 weeks on thursday and still hasn't smiled!!! He does wind smiles and does follow my face if i move slowly from side to side......I know I am being an anxious mum ,,,,,,,but a bit worried...also he doesn't cry at all when having a bath. Holly went crazy for her first two or three baths. Reading this back I know I'm being daft...just really want him to smile!!!!
Thanks
Kathryn

Hi, first of all big hugs, its so easy to compare one baby with another but they all do things in thier own time. if he is following your face and responding to you when you speak I wouldn't worry too much. Has he had his 6 week check yet, you could mention it to HV or GP to put your mind at rest.
I remember that Teilo seemed to take a really long time before he was smiling all the time, much longer than the others but it did happen and once he did there was no stopping him.

Ethan smiled at 5 weeks.
I wouldn't worry, they all do stuff in their own time!

Both my girls smiled under 8 weeks, can't remember the exact week without looking in my red book, there all different and they all get there, i know it's hard not to compare, my 2nd little one is so much slower then my first and even other babies at the groups in somethings but i'm just enjoying every moment
Neither of my girls have cried in the bath, they both love it x

It's a good thing he doesn't cry in the bath! Callum never has but Logan did all the time! We took Callum swimming for the first time a couple of weeks ago and he didn't cry but didn't smile either, think he was just taking it all in! Maybe James is doing that, there's a lot to take in for a new baby and maybe he's just getting used to everything before he smiles. Callum smiled earlier than Logan but as the others have said they're all different so don't worry he will do it eventually! xo
