Default talking?

Lo now 21 months.
He is very vocal in his own language (constantly talking away) but not a great deal that I can understand.
Says no, (alot!) mama, de da, (means dad), gan da (grand da), bye, ba, oh, but not much else?

thanks

I think they all progress at different rates. I do think that it does sound pretty limited for his age, but that's often the way with boys is it not? My pal's wee boy was like that then he turned three and something just clicked! And he wasn't gibbering away to himself either! The fact that he is doing that at all is a very good sign, so I'd just be patient and give him time.

I didn't talk till I was way past two almost three. First words were in a sentence. It's very normal. xx

I have read somewhere that boys speech skills are later than girls, but i agree with ladybug - if he is babbling away in his own language one day it will make perfect sense!

I didnt think rhys was saying much til abt 2 weeks ago: but his language skills have just taken off: I say a word once and he gets it!

They are like a sponge at this stage: even if they arent saying much, trust me, they understand until one day it all just comes tumbling out!
