Default advice on taking formula/bottle

Hi

I've been breastfeeding for 6 months and have started weaning my daughter but she will not accept formula - I've tried all different brands! She sometimes takes a bottle but only when she feels like it!

The best tip I've had so far is to feed her formula with a spoon out of a bowl but is very time consuming and also very messy!!!

any other ideas??

Who is giving the bottle? as it may be easier for someone else to feed it she she does'nt smell your milk. Also she might prefere it out of a beaker, maybe give that a try and there has been a few dicussions on here and all of people seem to think the tommee tippee cup is a good one. Beth xxxx

suggest you try either a beaker (tommee tippe or avent cup), or skip this stage totally & try a doidy cup.

Have you tried the Tommee Tippee 'Closer to Nature' bottle? It is supposed to be the closest bottle to a breast. We used this bottle and our LO breastfed too. It also has a valve that helps reduce wind, which worked pretty well for us. It looks quite a lot different from 'regular' teats.
Good luck!

I would suggest someone giving a bottle/cup of milk when you're not around. Is there anyone you could leave her with for an hour or two? It makes sense her refusing it if she knows you're available as an alternative xx

thanks for all advice

Funnily enough just tried today with tommy tipee cup, she wouldn't drink any so took the top off and gave her beaker part which worked better - although still pretty messy!!!

My husband has tried giving her the formula in a bottle but she sniffs that out! I'm wanting to give up b/f soon so would really like her to take the formula!!!
