Default Baby is not affectionate

I am feeling really upset because my dd 7 mo is not affectionate and I'm really worried. She loves attention, is smiley, laughs, is playful and happy and we have good eye contact and she listens to me and looks adoringly at me sometimes but she doesn't want to be held or cuddled by anyone, she just looks around and squirms to be free and put down again! Any thoughts?

yep, that your daughter sounds perfectly normal! Some babies like doing there own thing others want to held 24/7, trust me you would not want the other LOL! Your baby hasnt yet reached the very clingy stage where they cry every time they cant see you. Another way to look at it is that they are you doing a great job if they are happy to play by themselves rather than needing you constantly. Enjoy it while it lasts and try not to look to much into it, your daughter sounds fab, wana swap her for a little monster?

Thank you so much, I feel better. I have no experience of babies whatsoever so I panic when I read baby books sometimes and they're all I have to inform me!

Megan is the same hun. Sometimes she is just happy to entertain herself in her chair with a few toys or in her activity station. And like you said it's only sometimes that she doesn't like to be cuddled etc, it is showing she is just finding her independence and that's a good thing hun, so I wouldn't worry. There will be days when she just wants to be with you constantly, we get these, but when she is happy to entertain herself I just use the time to get housework etc done. xxxxx

Like everyone said it is perfectly normal some babies just aren't affectionate and funnily enough it is more common in girls than boys. I wouldn't worry about it as long as your LO is happy and healthy that is all that matters

Isabella still won't hold still and snuggle me

I get a pat now and then though which is a start. And kisses if I bribe her with grapes...

Ruby was never a cuddly baby but she makes up for it these days. so don't worry too much, it's probably just an independence phase. x

Scratch my earlier comments! After dinner I asked Isabella what she wanted expecting her to say yoghurt or grapes and she said "abella want to snuggle mummy"

And she did!!!

Was really, really lovely and well worth the wait and all the times I've had to wrestle a kiss out of her.
