Hi, I was told 9 months/20lb. My lo ws a little under 20lb but she was so long and uncomfortable in the other one. I went to Halfords gave the details I needed in a car seat and others I would like. They spent a long time telling me pros and cons of certain aspects of certain car seats. In the end I asked them which was the best car seat. They told me the Maxi Cosi Priori XP was the best one to have and it cost £114, there were some dearer ones. They tried it in my car first to see if it fit and they spent more time showing me how to fit it and letting me do it. I find it really easy to fasten in and I feel confident doing it.
I didn't take my child with me though. I went first to have a look and discuss car seats explaining my child was nearly ready. I then went back 2 weeks later, the same man served me and said she had grown. That was when they spent time fitting it. xxx |

I was told by both the Road Safety Officer and HV that's it best to keep them rearward facing for as long as possible as these seats provide more protection in a collision.
I changed Isabella to a forward facing one just yesterday. She is 23lbs and is off the centile chart for length. Her legs were right up the back of the seat in her old one but I was told this isn't a problem unless her head is over the top of the seat. I ended up buying the Maxi-Cosi Tobi. I think there are heaps of fantastic seats available and lots of shop assistants will have their personal favourites. There is loads of information available on the net about various seats and which has won what award. Last edited by isabellasmum : 01-11-07 at 00:27. |

we had to get lily-mays new car seat last week, she is just under 20Ibs but was getting too big for her rear facing car seat. we went to halfords to ask for advice&we were reccomended the maxi cosi priori xp, it reclines& has really good side impact protection. Its £140 but there is £20 off the price at the moment& they fit it in your car for free. we chose the "happy flower" design cos its so pretty xx

We have the Maxi Cosi Priori XP and we love it! I was within our price range, has won awards and performs well in safety tests. We got ours at www.kiddicare.com.
We put Ethan in the seat when he was 21lbs at around 8 months. He has always been a sturdy little fella and he had good head control and was able to sit up well at this age. xxxxxxxx |

i was going to get the maxi cosi one but saw this brittax eclipse si from halfords, its great it reclines which is good when LO falls asleep had no problems and its cheaper than the maxi cosi one...also got it fitted there for free and they gave me a certificate so if we have a crash in the car we can a replacement one (free through the insurance) that applies to any car seat bought there.
