Hi, this is equipment that Bella needs? And the NHS won't pay for it?
You could try a charitable business organization, like Kiwanis International or Rotary Club. Find the chapter nearest to you. Ask them to sponsor her, or if they'll do a fundraiser for her benefit. Who knows, they might even have a member who sells that sort of equipment, and could get it at a discount. You could also see if the local girl/boy scouts would do a fundraiser. Does that help? |

I think you should get in touch with your local press and why not write to Philip and Fern or GMTV, lots of people go high profile with their case and they get a lot of response from that. In our local news there was a guy who needed cancer treatment but due to his postcode was refused the medication and told to pay for it, he appealed on our local news and a local businessman came forward and paid. Come on creative mummies, lets think of ways to help xx |

Ah rotary club, will try there my Uncle was president last year so may be able to pull some strings
Social services have run out of money for this year! So she would be put on the waiting list til next April. The thing that really annoys me (sorry, did say I was going to stop complaining but this is REALLY annoying)..we have been offered 24 hours a week respite which costs £800 per week but I don't want to leave her so they will pay for that but not the equipment, different budgets apparently, grrrrr. I really didn't mean to sound like I was scrounging off everyone here, you all have your LOs and christmas etc, I just think my brain is a bit defunct and thought there may be a few bright ideas lurking around that I am not seeing xxx |

And I certainly didn't think that either, I just think it would be nice if we could do something to help ... it all adds up.
I have done loads of fundraising at work and I'm just thinking how we could apply that online, let me think xx |

I saw on eBay once someones LO needed some kind of medical treatment (I cant remember what now!) and they had written an auction page about what was wrong with him, what they hoped to achieve with the treatment etc and included photos of him.
What they were selling was a gorgeous photo of their LO, which was really just a token gesture for someone making a donation. I think the photos were going for £4.95 and there were absolutely loads sold - hundreds - and pages and pages of lovely feedback and messages. Its amazing how many people do want to help (on the flip side, some people do think its scamming and the people had included telephone numbers and names of their local hopsital/ward/nhs workers who could verify, if any disbelievers wanted to check it out). If you use eBay and have good feedback (or know someone who does) then that might be worth a go (it may be a bad idea to open an eBay account specifically for doing this, as people would be suspicious). Anyway, Im sure lots of people would just like to make a donation to Bella's Fund, I know I would - if you let me know how I can do it then I will. Good luck trying to raise the money xxx |
