Default please, someone tell me not to buy this!

Have been looking for a long while at play kitchens. Took down our playpen recently, which freed up enough room in our dining room/playroom for a little kitchen play area. I defo want a wooden one, so it blends better with the dining room furniture (which is both natural wood and red wood - IKEA special!).

I am NOT looking to spend this kind of money, but somehow I keep coming back to this set of three little kitchen thingys: stove, sink, washer, all from GLTC, http://www.gltc.co.uk/fcp/product/-/...35/10000000225 They are selling the set for 150 pounds.

Does anyone have it? How big are the units (the website doesn't give any dimensions, which is annoying). And can someone please tell me I'm crazy for considering spending this much money on a toy????

I'll be no good at steering you away from this - just had a look & think it's lovely! Would def have one for Oliver if he was older. Am I right in thinking you are returning back to the US to live in the summer? If so, then I think the Pottery Barn Kids ones are really lovely too and I can't remember how much they are, they are expensive but i'm sure they are no more than $300 which is the equivalent to this one?? Just a thought. x

It's funny you should mention PB Kids, because I agree their play kitchens are gorgeous, but I remember when I saw the catalog at Christmas time I was thinking that I would never pay that much for a play kitchen, you can get a real oven for that! But you are right, 150 pounds IS $300!!!

Just had a look, they do fridge, stove, sink sets for $649.00, which is more like 325 pounds. So the GLTC one is less than half the price. But if you look at the PB kids set, it is WAYYYYYYY nicer. I'm not getting it, no way would I spend that, but it does make me wonder if the simple wood boxes that the GLTC ones amount to are even worth 150 pounds...

For anyone who's curious, here's the Pottery Barn Kids link. Forewarned, their stuff is GORGEOUS, put your credit card in another room:

Some of those Pottery barn ones are fab, but way too expensive. I like this one but would have to move house to fit it in though!

Isabella has the pink one from GLTC and it is fab. Was £110 and worth every penny as she plays with it every day.

If you go through netmums you get 10% off GLTC and Quidco gives cashback for them too so what will get the price down a little xxx

oh wow I only had a very very quick look at the PD one! Couldnt trust myself so closed the link as quick as i could! LOL
Anyway really like the GLT one and it really isnt too expensive if you think how long he is gonna get playing with it, and if you ever have another lo they would get the use of it too.
For Christmas Leah got the kitchen from ELC which is alot cheaper but it is plastic so would not fit in with you look. It was the best thing ever to get as she plays with it everyday and never tires of it and it is gonna last her for a few years, bless her she cant reach the top shelf where the plates are kept so she still has to 'grow' into it!

LOL sorry I was no good helping you decide NOT to buy it!!!

Ach go on go on go on you know you reallywant to!!!!!!
hehehehehe

The only reason why I would say to get a cheapo one is if you are not going to drag it with you to your next overseas home. If you are then the good sets will make it through for your grandkids to play with-so they are worth the money!
