I know at home my Mum just goes for good hot water, maybe some cleaning solution and a floor cleaner from Lidl - one of the ones that has a cleaning cloth attached. I use the same but mine are laminate. I just fill the sink with the water, wring out the cloth by hand then attach it to the mop thingy and off I go. I have a pair of cleaning socks I wear when cleaning the floor so I don't care if I walk over the freshly cleaned floor in them and it's not yet dry. I couldn't be bothered with buckets of water and couldn't afford to be using the wipes.

OH goes mad at me if he sees me mop ours, says water is terrible for the wood.
I like the method wood floor cleaner, it comes in a squeezy bottle so you squirt it onto the floor then mop it. Smells gorgeous - makes the room smell almondy delicious. Mostly I just vaccuum ours and try not to mop unless it needs it. Wipes are good for spot cleaning but too expensive to use regularly. Those buffer pad style mops I find a pain as you have to wash them. |

Water, especially loads of it is bad for hardwoord floors, but if you wring the mop out really well so it's more slightly damp than wet it is okay. You don't want standing water on the floor, all you need is enough dampness in the cloth to give it a clean.

I use a manual mop with hot water and a floor cleaning solution suitable for wooden floors. I have also recently purchased an electronic one which is great for wooden floors. I haven't seemed to have had any problems, and I absolutely love how clean the house smells after a mop!
