Default Bed Wetting

Any ideas on how to stop it? Evan went through a phase of wetting the bed alot a while back but then he hadnt long been dry through the night so put it down to that but then the last 2 nights he has wet the bed again He doesnt really have a drink before bed and doesnt drink in the night (unless he is having a coughing fit!) so dont really know what I can do to stop it.

Ive tried not to make a fuss about it and just said "nevermind, next time try and go to the toilet" but dont really know what to do. Last night I woke up and saw Evan's bedroom light was on so went into his room and he was stood there butt naked, shivering and half asleep going through his drawers looking for some clean pjs . He said he didnt want to wake me cos OH said if he done it again he would have to wear nappies ( needless to say OH got a very stern telling off!!)

Ive now brought some of those disposable bedmats to try and protect Evans mattress and my santy so will see if they help a bit!

What about taking him to the toilet before you go to bed? We used to do that with Logan when he was just out of nappies and he was still half asleep and usually went back to sleep no problem.

Sometimes if they're in a deep sleep it's hard for them to make it to the toilet in time. It's happened to Logan a few times recently, his bed has been dry but his pj bottoms wet as he hasn't got to the bathroom in time.

I second the taking him to the toilet before you go to bed. Also, this is just a thought but you said he was having a hard time at school recently. It could be to do with that. x

hmmmm could be, although he does seem to be settled again at school. I will take him before I go to bed tonight and see if that helps. I sooooo hope he sleeps through tonight because I feel absolutely shattered now

Can't remember exact details but a friend of mine had this problem with her son and it turned out he wasn't drinking enough during the day. Seems madness doesn't it - not drinking enough makes you wet the bed but I'm positive that's what the nurse told her. May be worth looking at.

Think not making a fuss is best way to deal with it - grr to OH - men just don't think do they

I agree with mummy5 my niece used to the wet the bed and had to see the nurse at her school she wasn't drinking enough so she used to carry a lidded bottle around with her and had to drink the lot I can find out more from my sister if you want? She was at her wits end but it all sorted itself out x

I know, tell me about it. I made sure that he felt really bad after that

Mummy 5 and Mrs H, That could be it. The last couple of days Ive been asking him throughout the day if he wants a drink and he keeps saying no. I suppose while he's at school he has his drink bottle there at lunch time and they have a water bottle with them to drink in class so he has been drinking more there, now hes been off he has been too busy playing to stop and drink. Will make sure he drinks tomorrow and see how it goes. He has had a bit more today as my mum was over and Evan kept having cups of teas with her so hopefully tonight will be better too. Thank you xxx

Fine the last couple of nights so guess those few nights where he wet the bed was just a phase. I have been making sure he is drinking alot more during the day, especially with it being hot aswell, and not giving him a drink too close to bed time so hopefully with everything I am doing it will keep the bed wetting at bay.

Its soooooooo not fun changing the sheets at stupid o'clock in the night. And its even worse now he has a mid-sleeper as it takes more effort to change his bed now
