Wasn't sure where to put this so here will do
On Twitter, I have a guy that has "befriended" me. We've been chatting every day since I joined in February. Seems really lovely, talks about his wife, children, grandchildren and dog a lot and is always really lovely, says he lives on the IOW.
He has found me on FB and sent a message asking if it's me. I haven't yet replied.
He seems totally genuine, have asked questions in the past to see if he was fake and I don't think he is. I can usually spot a troll/fake quite easily from here as experience but I'm not sure what to do. Obviously Facebook is more personal. I have pics of my friends and family and lots of Finlay and talk about "real" stuff.
Am I wearing my rose tinted specs again where the world is a lovely place and I wouldn't be caught up in anything nasty? Or should I trust my gut and accept his friend request because he really is the genuine person I think he is? I am totally aware of the dangers of the internet and people not always being who they say they are but deep down I really think this man is for real. He comes across as a really sweet man, who has been sucked into the Twittersphere whilst recovering from a heart attack. But I do always see the best in people. So felt I needed advice on what to do. I need to respond to him, so not sure whether to tweet him saying it is me but I only have family and friends on there so thanks but no thanks (obviously nicer than that!) or should I accept him? Or am I just being totally thick..............
