Finlay isn't 5 but attempts pretty much everything by himself, we get told constantly I can do it!! He struggles with socks still, have showed him numerous times but he still gets in a bit of a tizz with it but gets himself dressed apart from those. Can put on his own coat and shoes and has done his zip up by himself, has even put a belt through the loops on his jeans AND done it up himself before, was quite gobsmacked.
He can't wipe his own bottom yet, he has tried but it's me really that's not letting him cos he ends up with his hands wiping it instead of the tissue (bleugh!) should really try and teach him, just easier for us to do it atm. |

Yes, they will need to do it at school. MIL is a school secretary and they always ask that they can-
dress themselves in uniform wipe bum/go to toilet unaided feed themselves (knife and fork if they are having the hot lunch) This started when they had a child who didn't even know what a knife and fork was for; so they had to discreetly ask parent to sort it out. The teachers refuse to do bum wiping and sometimes TA's have to do it, which they are not very keen on either. |
